Today while staying at Venus Bay, we took a drive around the bay and out to Point Labatt, about 90kms away, 50kms on a limestone gravel road.

Point Labatt has a Australian Sea Lion reserve, This is the only mainland area where The Australian Sea Lion’s breed.

I have got pictures of today’s little trip below:

Venus Bay is 240km’s from Port Lincoln, it was a quick drive, with not much to see.

When we got here, WOW what a place.

The park is small and quaint, right on the beach and the bay is relatively still with little wind.

Although there is nothing actually here to do, I think we might stay here again tomorrow as we have a few spare days up our sleaves, and delaying the 3 days of 800km plus days is always a good thing, oh and nothing like relaxing in paradise.

Until Tomorrow

Ps I actually got the bloody satellite to work today for the second time the whole holiday 5 min setup my ass.

Robe, was a nice place to visit but being a small fishing village there wasn’t much to see.

Victor Harbour reminded me a lot of Mandurah, a classic old town with a modern city pushing though.

While walking along there street markets we noticed a sign at a local pub quoting “ Come try our famous Carvery $32 for two people”. Well that sounds like a challenge to me, so we headed in and booked.

Getting there a few minutes early we decided to head to the slot machines, Sherron started with $10, and I started with $20. After about 15 mins we both finished with the same amount we started with so that was great we paid for our dinner with $1 coins :) .

This morning we left Victor Harbour and travelled through Adelaide slowly on our way to Port Pirie.

Port Pirie is a Mining port with the world’s largest Lead Smelter. They also refine Zinc, Copper and Gold. It is quite a big place, but very industrial looking.

The van park is nice with our bay backing onto a lake, as seen in the photo’s below.

Tomorrow we head to Port Lincoln we have a few spare days up our sleeves so we may stay here for two days, and then we are of to Venus Bay, and I’ve been told this is a beautiful place.

We haven’t been doing a lot just looking around the towns we are staying, hence why my posts have been a little boring, sorry we will try and spice things up for the next few days other wise ill just make some shit up:)

Hey everyone.

We are currently sitting in Robe SA. A town that resembles Lancelin and is known for its Cray Fishing and once was SA’s third biggest port.

The drive from Warrnambool was a boring one with not much to see.

I am going to post some pictures today from the last few days, I will try and post more when we can get to a McDonald’s as using there Free wifi is alot faster and cheaper than using our Telstra Wireless broadband.

A Little windy here but the town and the park are beautiful.

Heading to Victor Harbour tomorrow.

Until then.

Hey all.

Today we tackled the Great Ocean Road and it was beautiful.

It was windy as promised but ok, Sherron spend half the trip hanging
out the window taking photos.

Because the trip was slower than expected I didn’t get time to post
any pics tonight.
Tonight we are in warrnambool vic, visiting some of Sherron’s
relatives, we went out with them for dinner so that’s why this post is
short.

I will put some more info up and pictures tommorrow.

Hello Loyal Followers,

Firstly I would like to thank Bairnsdale Mcdonald’s for being the sponsor for yesterday’s post as they allowed us to use their free wireless Internet, although technically free isn’t the right word as we brought stuff while we were there, we were not as bad as the group of 5 Foreign tourists that were so well setup they had there international plug adapter in the power point in the roof of the Mcdonald’s and had an extension lead with power board with so many things plugged in they also needed double adaptors, Mobile Phones, Laptops and digital Cameras all charging.

We then went to the caravan, getting ready to go to the Local RSL, it was a beautiful RSL and the food was very well priced and tasted great. On the way to the RSL we stopped at a rather large Corner shop for some bread and I had noticed a sign on the wall that they sell Dutch Croquettes, (see below) and also dutch licorice. We found the Licorice we like most which is griotten small licorice covered in suger, we pay $45 a KILO in Mandurah and here got 1.25kg for $17 thats $13 a kilo!!!

Sitting at the caravan we could smell something really nice, we thought someone must have been baking, we then realised the park was next to the Patties Factory. Patties make brands such as Four and Twenty and Nanna’s Mmmmm the smells were fantastic.

We left this morning at about 10.15, and headed to Queenscliff but about 40kms out we found they didnt have any Sites available so we redirected to Aireys Inlet along the Great Ocean road. We have on traveled about 3okms of the 3ookms of the Great Ocean Road and it is already Beautiful.

The Park we are staying at is very nice, but I must say last nights park was the best so far, I will post some pictures later tonight or tomorrow.

Tomorrow we are heading to Warrnabool to visit some of Sherron’s Relatives.

Until then

Croquette: Whereas previously the dish was regarded as a French cuisine delicacy of varying meat or vegetable content, in the 1800s it started to be used to use up leftover stewed meat. After World War II, several suppliers started mass-producing croquettes[14] filled with beef. The croquette subsequently became even more popular as a fast food, a deep fried meat ragout covered in breadcrumbs. Its success as a fast food garnered its reputation as a cheap dish of dubious quality, to such an extent that Dutch urban mythrelate its allegedly mysterious content to offal and butchering waste. The “kroket” is even so popular that it is sold at McDonalds.

Everyone,

Sorry the updates have been few and far between. The holidays has been
hard since the news of our mates passing, we wanted to come home
straight away as it doesn’t feel the same anymore, but we would have
been home to late anyway and I know moxy would have said ” Continue on
and enjoy yourself and get your snorkle out!!” we are going to
continue and keep moxy in our minds.

Today we left canberra and headed for Eden via Bega.
Driving through the brown mountian (snowy mountains) was beautiful and
hard work the decent from 1200m above sea level to 440m was full of
sharp corners and hairpins so we had to take it slow but the views
were worth it.

We stopped at the Bega cheese factory, gezz Sherron loves cheese.
The factory was very moden from what we could see and we brought a few
little bega cow things (more crap we really didn’t need) and Sherron
got some cheese (suprise suprise).

We then headed to Eden, the total trip was only about 300kms so not a
big day. Eden was a whaling town. We went to the whaling musem it was
unbelivable to learn the killer whales used to heard the bigger whales
into the bay and alert the fisherman they had one cornered and the
head of the group for may years (early 1900’s) was called tom and they
even write that he used to even drag the small harpoon boats out to
the whale for them to kill it, he used to put the rope in his mouth
and pull them along you can even see his teeth have worn on one side
from this as the have his skeleton on show.
In return for getting these whales the fisherman used to kill them and
let the killer whales eat the tounge and lips that weighed more that 4
ton on there own. I found this unbelivable.

We then settled into the caravan park which is right on the beach.
Because there is no signal here (phone or Internet) I am writing this
on my phone and it will post as soon as we get signal, hopefully then
when we stop tomorrow we should have signal and I can add some pictures.

We still don’t have a itinerary for our journy home we are just going
to wing it for a few days heading down the coast stopping at port
lincon and going along the great ocean road then make our way right
along the coast till we hit home around the 2nd of march.

Until tomorrow

Shane and Sherron.
